Hi,
I am going to build some shelves for a planned linen cabinet. The shelves will be about 1330x590 mm.

I am considering MDF, laminated pine board, or particle board.

A board 2700x1200 would be perfect from a waste perspective.

I probably need exactly 4 shelves.

Does anyone know where I can find something like that? It should be in or around Malmö.

None?
Laminated wood boards seem to come in the length of 1200, which is too short. The next length is 2000.
Seems like I'll simply have to account for a lot of waste.

Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, nice to get a pre-painted board. Your first link works pretty well. 150cm long and 75 deep.

I still think I'll go for a larger board for the same price, so I can produce boxes or something else from the offcuts.

For boards suitable for shelving, there obviously aren't any in the size 2700x1200 :(

There is 16mm MDF measuring 1220x3050 - My local supplier has this in stock, and I have used it for some bookshelf build where the length was over 2440.
Your building materials store should be able to order it in, but of course, it becomes a cost issue...

The alternative is to splice a shelf in MDF and finish with molding in full length 1330 as edges?

I buy from Sigvard-Spångberg AB / Skivspecialisten.

Now that I got 1220x3050, I found a hit on XLbygg. However, it's only 12mm.

I always get terrified when it says "Contact store for price."

It feels unfortunate that my cheapest option involves a lot of waste. Not good for the environment.

They can definitely order 16mm, but as mentioned, it doesn't hurt to get a price quote first...

But ... Waste is only negative if you don't do something useful with it. I save all the waste (yes, within reasonable limits) and it tends to get used. Just a few days ago, I built speaker boxes from material from the waste storage.
So, waste is not automatically an environmental burden!

So true :)

As I wrote earlier, I can always build boxes from the waste.

Sent a question to Hornbach and have already received a response. Not so terribly expensive, actually.

I asked about 16x3050x1220. The question is whether I can manage with 16mm or if I should go up a bit?

It depends on what you plan to store in the cabinet. All shelves sag more or less; I think Ikea's hollow board maintains its shape better than a 16mm MDF.

I'm checking the price difference between 16mm and 19mm, so we'll see. Planning to have a strip on the front edge which will also help support a bit.

It's a linen cupboard, so the shelves will hold sheets and such.

It became a 19x3050x1220.
The only drawback is that I have to wait for it :(
