I have a small basement room left in our extension that needs to be levelled with self-leveling compound, and between the "ledge" on the foundation in the old building and the new slab, there is 50mm of styrofoam.

Now I plan to level the room with self-leveling compound, and I wonder how I should do it to avoid cracks in the transition between the new and old part.

The first thing I think of is to lay out a reinforcement mesh of metal (70x70x2.5 mm), but I wonder if there is a simpler/smarter alternative (like some form of fiber reinforcement)
