Hello

I have an old hole in the wall from an old wood-fired boiler that I want to cover/seal because it smells like smoke in the basement from it.

Any tips on how to do it?

Can I pour in mortar?

Best regards

Jessica

I would probably brick it up with fireproof bricks.

Works well with regular solid red brick and mortar.

You shape the bricks to the right form with a mason's hammer. Sounds difficult but is not.

Does lecablock work?

As long as it won't be burned in the channel, it should be fine. But leca is porous, so it lets smoke gases through and cannot withstand high heat since it is cement-bound.
