Hello. I'm planning to install a bar over the stove to hang utensils and pans, etc., and I wonder how best to set it up. It will be mounted on the chimney breast, an old one, brick with what I assume is plaster on it. The screws will be placed so far out towards the edges that they can't possibly go through to the flue channels. The brackets for the bar have three screw holes on each side, with a couple of centimeters in between.
I'm wondering what type of screws and wall plugs to use?
I'd also appreciate some tips on the actual drilling, as it seems important to get it right on the first try. Thanks for the tips!
Appropriate screw depending on the appearance of the fasteners and red plug or equivalent plastic plug.
For a drill, I would choose a "multi-construction" type in a regular screwdriver without impact, masonry walls are usually soft and using impact only increases the risks of something going wrong. If you don't feel like buying a specific one, regular HSS metal drills usually work but they are trash afterwards.

Thanks for the answer! Updated the post with a picture of how the mount looks. I had a thought that considering old bricks might be soft/porous, maybe I should drill a bit larger, fill the hole with something like "liquid plug," then put a plug in it, screw into the plug, but maybe that's a bit overkill?
