screw that has broken

I have a ceiling socket for lamps where a screw has broken off. It's still stuck in the thread and there's nothing to grip to unscrew it...what to do?!?

Drill out and create a new thread with a tap.

...or drill a hole for a "svinpitt", i.e., a screw extractor.

Use a left-handed drill and you might not even need to use svinpittarna.

You can knock out screws with a "vass" punch. Just hit the screw a bit, and it will thread itself out. It's a bit difficult with M3, but doable with slightly larger dimensions.
