Screw and Nail Hole in Wall Panel

I'm planning to start renovating a bit in the hallway. There are a heck of a lot of small holes from screws and nails. Pictures that have hung there, etc. Do they need to be replaced or can they be fixed with some filler? The panel is white but you can see the knots, I would like to keep it that way, otherwise, it's just a matter of painting over it with a more covering paint.

Interesting, that one should be tried. It feels a bit drastic to have to replace the panel.
