I have a plastered ceiling in the basement that needs repair. There are some larger holes around pipes after work with water and sewage, as well as quite a few cracks along the walls and small holes. Various hanging water pipes for heating, electrical cables attached to the ceiling with drilled clips, some of which are old "fabric wiring" that should be replaced.
Now the chimney sweep wants the ceiling to at least be approximately as fire-resistant as it originally was 80 years ago, or alternatively, plastered.
So what is the best course of action?
Is there a good fire foam I can use to fill the holes and then just patch up the cracks with household fix?
Or should I focus on removing all fabric wiring, releasing all clips, and tearing down the entire ceiling to screw drywall in?
Or should I hire a contractor (how much might it cost for about 14 square meters in a smaller community?) and work overtime on what I’m really good at...?
