Hello! I've torn down a custom-built wardrobe and am now considering how to cut down these studs to the level of the floor. Any tips for getting it straight and nice? It's going to be chipboard and new flooring on top.

Best regards:)

  • Floor renovation scene with removed built-in closet, exposed wooden beams, sawdust filling gaps, and wall removed for new chipboard and flooring.
The easiest way is probably to remove them and replace them with new ones in the appropriate dimension.
They can hardly have any load-bearing function.
Scrape away sawdust and insulation, and you'll likely see how to proceed.

I have solved similar by using a reciprocating saw to cut down the height, a bit below the height they should be. Then glued and screwed a plank on the side of the floor beam. And then just glued and screwed the particle board to the plank on the side.
