Need to replace the panel on the door to our pantry. I measure the panel currently there and enter the dimensions in Google, and up pops sauna panel. The dimensions match, but do you think it could work for a door that will be outdoors? The panel will be painted with linseed oil paint, so there is an opportunity to thoroughly impregnate it with linseed oil.
Had the same problem with a "snackedörr" to the workshop. The only thing I also found that fit reasonably well was sauna paneling. Went with that, along with linseed oil paint. Replaced the paneling on the lower half of the door in 2018. Touched up the lower section last year when the paint had come off at many knots and resin pockets in the secondary wood. (Who wants to lean against a wall/sauna panel full of knots and resin pockets leaking warm sticky resin?) There was so much fresh resin that it didn't seem worth even trying with shellac.
Anyway, the paneling is still in good condition as far as I know, six years after the renovation. It's also subjected to quite a bit of driving rain in a west-facing position.

Yes, the panel must be able to move. If a large piece is glued together, the movement at the edges becomes greater, so gluing wood is not recommended for outdoor use as the moisture varies so much over the year. Indoors, the climate is much more stable, so the movements are not as large.
