rules for floor drain?

have a little question....

I have read and seen that in wet areas the floor drain MUST be replaced if it is not from 1990 and onwards when renovating, but what about where it is not a wet area? for example, in a basement? where there is a concrete floor and walls?

In a basement, there is no reason at all to replace drains unless there is something directly wrong with them. Except possibly in a bathroom.
