rule against floors, non-moisture absorbing material?
Hello,
I am planning to build an interior wall on a basement floor and for several reasons, I mainly want to use wooden studs. However, I would also like to protect the construction against potential future moisture problems. I've considered using metal studs at the bottom and then splicing them with wood. Alternatively, I could lay a row of, for example, lightweight concrete blocks and then place a horizontal wooden stud on top. EDIT: another variant might be to attach standing wooden studs to the floor with some kind of angle iron, post brackets, or similar.
Now I wonder, are there other options? I am imagining, for example, a stud made of non-organic material that can still easily support standing wooden studs, perhaps some type of plastic, composite, or the like? That is, something I can place directly on the basement floor without worry.

Steel rail at the bottom and then wooden studs standing.

I've checked them out and am considering building raised garden beds that are non-toxic and age-resistant.
I haven't gotten around to it yet, so I don't know how it works. They should work as sill boards.

But there are wood fibers in them so they're not entirely inorganic.Pucco said:
