I'm currently planning a bit ahead of building a sauna in the basement. The sauna will have one wall against a load-bearing interior wall. My question is whether it's safe to make a 50cm-diameter hole in the wall and install a round window?... considering the structural integrity...
thanks in advance

What kind of wall is it?
Material?

stone....masonry wall running in the middle of the basement through the entire house...

It is possible, but you may need to install a lintel above the window depending on what you have above it. Do you have floor joists directly above the intended window or do you have a concrete slab?

should you make a rectangular hole so you can place studs at the top/side/bottom so you have something to screw into? Has anyone installed a round glass cassette? Should you place it in the middle of the wall or flush against one side?

You can make a round hole. It’s just a matter of plugging and screwing the window in place. I usually use 4 screws.
