As the title says, I need to make a circular hole in a plasterboard, it should be about 250-300 mm in diameter. Is a special tool needed (like a large hole saw), or is there a trick?

I was going to saw with a jigsaw.

Would also use a jigsaw and first draw out with a compass where I would saw.

It's usually murder on the pendulum mechanism to jigsaw in plasterboards. Fasten the jigsaw blade in something and saw by hand. It was just a hole in question, not a hundred holes.

Oh right, I do have a cheap jigsaw from ÖoB that I sacrifice for things like cutting drywall. So I don't have to worry about it.
Thanks for reminding me, Johan.

Although I have cut a few meters of drywall with the nice jigsaw too...

Is there any gadget for my jigsaw specifically to make round holes, it consists only of a metal rod that you attach to the jigsaw and a point that you should hold in the center of the hole (in fact, a string should work just as well...)

I'm using one of these:

  • A compact hand saw with a blue and yellow handle, featuring a serrated metal blade, suitable for small-scale cutting projects.
A nail/screw, a string, and a pencil create a line where you should "saw." Make the circle slightly smaller than what you need, cut out with a saw similar to the one "mycket_nu" showed. Then clean it up with a morakniv or similar.

Take a utility knife and cut the circle. Then make a "plus sign" cut in the circle and hit it firmly.

As OHE writes, but also do the same on the underside.
