Made a less-than-ideal discovery while re-roofing, a roof truss that's not in great shape.

The lower part of the roof truss, out by the eave, is rotten. The positive aspect is that it's not completely rotten, just "only" about 3/4 of the end, and then it decreases and becomes less rotten gradually about 1 meter up towards the ridge.

What I'm thinking of doing now is attaching a plank/glulam to the side of the truss, the plank will probably be at least a couple of meters long. The question is how to best fasten these together, nails, screws?

The truss is approximately 145*70, and what I attach will have about the same dimensions.

put a 145x45 on each side instead and put long screws through that pull in both.

Good tips there... :)
