Hello. I have torn down the panel ceiling that was previously installed in the house built in the 70s. I noticed that there is about 100cc between the longitudinal beams. I was thinking of installing noggings at 30cc in between because I plan to install ceiling gypsum boards vertically. My question is, do I need more longitudinal beams or will the ceiling be stable with noggings between the longitudinal beams?

  • A construction site with exposed ceiling insulation and a support pole in a room under renovation.
  • Ceiling renovation with exposed insulation, plastic sheeting, and reinforcing supports. A ladder leans against the wall, and a door is slightly open.
Use glespanel instead, it is both easier and faster

Sparse panel 28x70, c-c 40 and it will be OK

Okay, you mean that it would be placed under the existing studs then? And then drywall? Do the existing studs hold for that?

However, we only have 224 in ceiling height so don't want to lose too much ceiling height, but do you think it would work with nogging between the studs

The table doesn't have long battens as extra support for glespanel instead? The battens that are there today have a strange measurement of 50x125mm.

  • Ceiling with exposed insulation and wooden beams, including a plastic sheet and a ladder against the wall.
  • Ceiling with exposed insulation and beams, plastic sheeting, and a partially painted wall in a room with a door, ladder, and work tools.

Two-by-five is a normal measurement for sawn timber
