I am building a simple rabbit hutch with 45x45 and plywood from Byggmax

If I use plywood for the roof, is it enough to paint with regular primer + facade paint? To last a few years outdoors.

We have a rabbit hutch that my daughter and I built around the year 1992. It stood outside until five years ago, so approximately 20 years.

Plywood, painted with simple outdoor paint, and it is like new. Although now it stands under a roof and serves as a nesting and brooding chamber for our hens :)

Perfect. Thanks. Did you also paint it on the inside?

I'll go out and take a couple of pictures!

This is how it looks now. It's inside the chicken coop, actually a small stable.
The boards on one door are to create peace and shade for the chickens; we had the cage outside at first.

Very thin with paint. Inside there's a piece of wet room rug now.
Maybe it's good to have a loose mat or "canvas paper," which can be easily replaced,
for hygiene reasons.

A wooden chicken coop inside a small barn with thin paint, a mesh door, and wood shavings on the floor, providing shade and a mat for hygiene.

Chicken in a wooden coop inside a henhouse, resting on straw, with minimal paint and a piece of wet room mat for easy cleaning and hygiene.

You see the hen sitting and brooding, right?

There will be some delayed Easter chicks :)

And the mesh in the doors is what's called fox netting (I think that's what it's called).

Rabbits are devils at biting through chicken wire or poultry netting. It has to be strong stuff!

Thank you so much for the pictures and tips. What a lovely environment you have at your home. I'm so envious.
