Roof drainage on older houses? How?
How should one do it then? In the past, they used to have galvanized pipes/gutters that were welded in sharp corners, whereas now it's probably lacquered sheet metal that is pre-bent :S
We are going to build a large log house in the 1850s style, with a saddle roof 15x8m (I think?), it will be painted with light Falu red color and white corners.
I would like old galvanized pipes/gutters with sharp corners, :wow: but the question is where to get them?? at what price?
The alternative would be to have aluzinc or white ones from Lindab.. But then there would be bent corners.. Or is there any other better place to buy from?
I've thought about directing the water from the downspouts onto a gravel bed (with some type of fabric against the house wall) down into a large ground pipe (kind of culvert) filled with stone, with an outlet connected to the drainage, which is supposed to be designed for that purpose.. So it becomes basically a dry well..d^_^b

Use galvat then, available for order at lindab or bevego.
There are also sharp pipe bends available.

Plannja also has sharp pipe angles in the "Tradition" range. I have used these on our house. However, you need to turn to a tinsmith to get hold of this range. Take the opportunity to order gutters and pipes in the correct lengths. Available up to 6 m from both Lindab and Plannja. The DIY stores only have 2.5m pipes and 4m gutters.
Keep in mind that sharp pipe angles have extra material that should be trimmed/cut off for a neat finish. Under a folding cup or water cup, you should cut the angle as short as possible.

oh you mean like that! now I understand
We ordered galvanized gutters and pipes with sharp angles from Plannja (via Bygga) about a year ago. It was difficult to get them to order because they claimed they weren't available, but eventually, we managed. Now Plannja has apparently stopped selling galvanized ones because they can't offer the same warranties on them as they can on the others in the standard range. They say they are doing this for the customers' sake.

If you call as a tinsmith, you'll get a different answer. Högsbo Järn- och Metall in Mölndal has access to Plannja's "discontinued" range. For example, downpipe brackets with wedge locking instead of eccentric which the new ones have. I think most tinsmiths can probably arrange this too.
"- They look terrible, so we told Plannja to continue delivering the old ones!" Quite a cool comment.
