Hello. Planning to install FTX in our 1½-story townhouse and considering different options for routing 160 mm spiral ducts. Considering routing the main line through the intermediate floor, but in that case, would need to cut or remove a number of noggins in the intermediate floor. Is this completely risk-free, or could any structural function be affected?

S
of course it is affected but not much can't be moved?

Thank you for the response. My idea is to run along the entire floor structure, from one end of the attic space to the other, so moving them might be difficult. Perhaps I can replace each short joist with two I-beams made of masonite to create a good hole to run through?

The downside is that the insulation loses its function. Why not run the pipes above and insulate the pipes and fasten them? They stay secure anyway?
