This weekend I plan to lay tiles in the garage. However, I have a question about how to deal with the existing floor drain. I assume I should install some kind of extension ring or tile frame to get everything at the right height. I tried buying an extension ring, but it naturally didn't fit because the screws go down and ruin the otherwise round shape. See picture. Since the floor drain is connected to both a soakaway, drainage pipe, and downspout, I would preferably like to screw the lid in place to prevent any large unwelcome guests from entering the garage. If I put a regular tile frame on top, these lids tend to weigh next to nothing, so even a mouse could lift the lid and get in. Grateful for tips on where to find an appropriate solution for this and any tips and tricks on the execution itself :) Rusty garage floor drain with a metal grid cover set aside, exposing circular opening.
