Hello, I live in a plastered brick house built in 1932. In the basement and garage, there have been I-beams above the windows and doors that have rusted and cracked the facade. The basement was fixed by craftsmen using a brick beam, but the garage door is still left. I will be replacing the roof on the garage myself this summer and would prefer to replace this before. Is it something I dare to do myself? Do I need to prop it up during the replacement, or is the wall somewhat self-supporting? Do I risk damage to the roof structure if it gives way?
The length of the beam is about 2.5m.

Thanks in advance - Magnus

Can't find how to edit, but from the bottom image, it's quite clear that there isn't much margin on the sides. Do you think there is any possibility to replace the beam without rebuilding?
