Replace the sheet metal panel with wood

Hello everyone! I live in a Mockfjärdshus from 1968. I am planning to add 45mm of extra insulation and then new wood paneling. How have you others done it?

Haven't done something like this.
But why only 45 mm?
I wouldn't have gone for it for such a small addition to the insulation.

Mainly doing it for the panel replacement and taking the opportunity to insulate. I thought 45 mm because it would align with the ridge on the outside where the base/basement wall starts.
