Hello!
I am going to replace the front door in my house, which has a vertical plank frame. The new door is 10 cm wider, so I plan to remove a plank in the frame to the right of the door.
I assume I need to replace the beam that is above the doorway with a beam that is 10 cm wider?
As you can see, there is a truss right above the doorway. Do I need to secure this in some way BEFORE I remove the current beam?

Wider than that because primarily the right side of the beam seems to be resting on the frame and not on the wall structure. It looks better on the left side of the window. The Tor said:
Yes, it's usually appropriate to prop up when making interventions in load-bearing walls. The Tor said:
It's probably the picture that's a bit unclear because the beams have the same appearance on all doors and windows. Even though I think it's a bit lightly done, it seems to work.BirgitS said:

Then the question is how I should get the beam out because I hope to avoid redoing the inside of the house. I'm thinking of sawing/milling/chiseling out the beam but saving a few cm at the innermost part and then inserting a suitably sized piece of glulam.
