It's time to tackle the next project on the house. We have a split-level house built in '65 that has blue concrete in both the interior and exterior walls. I will jackhammer and remove the concrete floor to insulate (10 cm gravel and 20 cm Styrofoam among others) so we can have underfloor heating with water pipes. I also want to remove as much of the interior walls as possible. We have, for instance, 4 non-load-bearing blue concrete walls that will be replaced with timber-framed walls. What I'm not quite sure about is how to proceed when it comes to the connection between the interior wall and the exterior wall. Should a small piece of the concrete interior wall be left (about 50 cm) so that moisture cannot travel through the exterior wall into the new framed wall? Finally, how should one handle the new wooden frames and the original concrete floor? I've checked and there is zero moisture on the concrete, but with the new concrete in the floor, the conditions might change.

Regards,

Björn
