I have a brick wall (house built in '74) facing south where a large and fine Virginia creeper has grown. I took it down over the weekend for a fresh start since the previous owner only pruned it halfway every year.

I then noticed that in some places the mortar between the bricks had come loose (5-10 places, 1-2 cm). I'm considering whether I can just fill it with new mortar/concrete or if I should just leave it alone.

Will it work to just press in more mortar/concrete, or will it come loose right away and I need to scrape out as much as possible first?
