I'm renovating a 70s house. Now I'm going to tackle a stairwell. There's a staircase down to the basement, and a staircase up to the upper floor. The stairs are angled. So there are two walls that are a total of about 7 meters high. These are currently covered with chipboard (original from the time of construction). The stringers are then mounted on top of the chipboard.
I would like to drywall these walls. But then I have to join the drywall against the stringers in some way. Probably a list is needed there. Drywall+list builds about 20mm. It won't look good if the stringers are concealed in this way. Even if I use renovation drywall, a significant part of the stringers is still concealed.
I could keep the old chipboard as the surface. The problem is all the cracks in all the joints.
Is there any really good strong renovation wallpaper that can handle chipboard with joints and corners, etc.? Something that builds less than renovation drywall.
