Renovating Floor - Concrete vs Joist
Hello everyone,
Here is an update regarding the floors. After much thinking, consultation, and deliberation, I have decided to lay concrete. I have thoroughly explored the possibilities of making a good foundation and see no major disadvantages in putting in new timber and keeping the crawl space foundation. Let's say the floor lasts 50-100 years with the same solution before it needs to be redone, but what is that in the grand scheme of things, no big deal at all.
However, I chose concrete because the cost ends up being almost the same as replacing all the beams, etc. So now I have ordered gravel blowing (8-16 crushed stone) as well as insulation.
I have hired professionals for the underfloor heating and pouring.
I will come back with pictures when more things happen, as well as information on it.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions, there is a lot of new knowledge on my end to share

Exciting! I have a house myself where this will be done so please feel free to share how you do it. For example, how much do you excavate, how do you get all the soil out of the house and bring in new materials, solution for load-bearing walls, etc., etc.!
Have forgotten about this thread in all the construction
But concrete is at least in place and the rest of the house and interior are starting to take shape properly, so I'm satisfied with the choice to cast.
But, it has been an incredibly large amount of work, nothing that's done in a snap for anyone wishing to take the same journey...
