Hello! We are redoing our bedroom and have a wall that goes against a mustock. The ant nest is "used" in such a way that we light a fire a few times a week, but it doesn't get particularly warm up here on the chimney.

We have removed three layers of wallpaper and will probably install a wardrobe along this wall. But down by the floor behind the baseboard, it looks like in the picture. Old plaster is crumbling down behind the wallpaper, and this wallpaper is not completely attached. We are considering a few different options:
"Repair" the holes at the bottom with mortar.
Possibly place a large board on the mustock, so that we have something to screw the baseboards into, among other things, and kind of "close off" the mustock more...

Many thoughts and we are rookies at most of this... What would you have done?

  • Wall with peeling wallpaper and crumbling plaster near the floor, exposing underlying damage. noenoteleaning carpet scrap and small debris are on the wooden floor.
