I've just started renovating our apartment, which I believe was built sometime in the 1920s. Throughout the apartment, there were painted, bumpy texture wallpapers (the kind with sawdust) that I just couldn't live with. Since I want painted walls, my plan was to remove the wallpaper, skim coat, and paint.
So, said and done, after tearing down four layers of wallpaper, I reached something I thought was a lightweight concrete wall, but it turned out to be a klasong wall with a wooden frame. Unfortunately, the plaster is very porous, and large sections are falling off, exposing the reed mat.
Now the question is, should I attempt to repair the plaster with lime plaster (?) and then skim coat over it, or is it best to remove all the plaster down to the wooden frame and screw in drywall panels?
Anyone with experience with this kind of wall, please write tips on how I should proceed. Since it's my first time renovating, I welcome all tips with pleasure
