Old house from '58 with unfinished basement. Moisture intrusion in exterior walls and along the floor.
I've had enough and decided to tackle the mess.
Woven wallpaper, and framed plywood (or something). Underneath, gypsum before the concrete wall.
After removing the woven wallpaper and plywood, I've cleaned down to the concrete wall on exterior walls, then I see that the gypsum on interior walls is completely yellow-white from mold and moisture, so I also knock this down and remove all the studs. The plan is to get everything down to bare concrete and then plaster all the walls.

So.
Have I messed up now, or am I thinking correctly?
(No construction knowledge whatsoever, just generally literate with a hell-bent determination)

Completely right to remove all organic material from a damp basement. Then think about what you are going to use the basement for; if you want it to be dry, then drainage is not a bad idea, it opens up a range of possible uses.
