Hello!
We have an extension where the roof is a balcony. Built in the '60s with roof beams made of Siporex, then I suspect copper sheet on which asphalt was later laid, followed by some form of concrete and tiles. Later, everything has been covered with roofing felt, and now it's time to remove the roofing felt, tiles, and the loose concrete underneath. I plan to lay new roofing felt that will be welded as the roof has a low slope. My question is what I should do best to create something to attach the roofing felt to, repair with regular concrete? Use self-leveling compound? Other solutions? I can't build too much in height because of the terrace door.

  • Close-up of cracked and broken red and black tiles on an old balcony roof, showing exposed insulation and debris from deteriorating layers beneath.
  • A flat balcony roof with tools scattered, brick wall and trees in the background, preparing for roof renovation with new roofing felt installation.
  • Roof corner with corrugated metal, chipped paint, and surrounding brickwork. Visible hook-like object and wooden decking below.
  • Damaged roof with removed roofing felt and cracked tiles, revealing layers of asphalt and chipped concrete on a balcony roof project.
Hi, curious about how it went for you. We have a concrete balcony where I'm considering laying roofing felt to make it waterproof from above. It is concrete now but a bit worn and hardly watertight...
So I was wondering if you'd like to share how you did it?
