Hello!

I want to inspect part of our closed crawl space and I think the easiest way is to remove the vent grille on the foundation. I would like tips on how to do this most easily. I would also like to arrange so that they can be easily removed when inspection is needed.

I appreciate all tips and tricks!

  • Vent covering on a red wooden house foundation, surrounded by soil and vegetation.
  • Vent grid on a concrete foundation wall with shadows. Soil and grass are visible at the base.
They are usually loose, try to loosen them.

Thanks for the answer, but if they had been loose I wouldn't have created this thread. :)

Sacrifice what is there and then replace it with new.

If it can't be accessed from the inside, I would guess that someone has fastened it with mortar, or construction adhesive.

It's probably just a matter of prying it loose (pulling it straight out); in the worst case, the grille breaks, but a new one costs about 100kr. If a bit of plaster falls off, it can be easily repaired.
