Hello

We have bought a house from '42 and have tretex in all rooms, now we are thinking of insulating the house additionally but how should we handle the tretex? Will it be "too much" insulation so that the wall doesn't breathe as it should? Today, it's facade panel, battens, thick planks, and tretex.

I don't want to change the conditions too much for the house construction.

The best thing is to insulate externally, and then you don't need to touch the tretex at all.

treetex has approximately the same insulation value as modern insulation. The boards are usually 13 mm thick, so your additional insulation will change the conditions much more than the treetex can. Are you insulating internally or externally? Externally is, as mentioned, best and then you can remove the treetex as you wish if you are going to wallpaper internally, but leave it for now.

Old tretex can smell a bit musty in some cases, but you'll notice it right away when you enter the room.
