Hello!

Question regarding tiles under the stove. The house was built in 1937. I believe these tiles under the stove are from the year it was built. Several are loose (or feel loose) and grout has started to come off. I'd like to resolve this as quickly and easily as possible. Preferably nicely as well. We have an old oak parquet that needs to be removed. So once it's removed, the tiles and floor will be even.

If you are going to remove tiles and replace them, you should reasonably take an asbestos test on the grout and fix before you start demolition? + of course, dismantling, which is a project in itself. I'm sitting and wondering if I can pour some fix on it so that the floor is cast in? Anyone have suggestions?

  • Cracked red tiles under a fireplace, surrounded by wooden flooring. Some tiles are loose, and grout is missing, likely from a 1937-built house.
  • A vintage cast iron stove stands on red tiles in a corner, with some tiles appearing loose and old grout visible, suggesting renovation needs.
