In my current bedroom, the original kitchen, there's a built-in wardrobe. It's the old pantry that's been converted into a wardrobe.
The idea is to completely remove the wardrobe, which is built of slag stone, to make room for a larger bed since there will be two of us in the apartment.
Now to the problem, when I removed the very last bit of wood inside the wardrobe, it seems that there's an inner ceiling built with slag stone about half a meter below the main ceiling.
Has anyone encountered something like this before? Attached are a couple of pictures.

What supplies the plumbing and potable water for the stack? Does the neighbor above have any toilet/kitchen overhead?
Yes, it supplies my apartment and probably the ones above with water and sewage. In my apartment, the kitchen has been moved from this room to the adjacent one, so there is sewage and water in a box along the wall.
I will go up and check with the neighbor how it looks in their apartment. If the cold storage/closet is gone there. It is gone in the apartment below at least.
