Can the "spaljen" be removed or is it supporting in any way? I have three floors and it runs from top to bottom. I want to remove it and build regular stainless steel railings instead, so there’s like air in between. Hope you understand what I mean.
Another perhaps silly question, are the risers just for appearance or do they serve another function? I would like to remove them too and renovate with a "stepkit". Attaching a picture and hope it’s not too large.

The trellis should not have any load-bearing function.
As for risers, as far as I know there are rules on how large the gap can be between the steps due to the risk that children might get stuck/fall through. However, I'm not sure what the rules are.
Also, keep in mind that risers can have a certain dampening effect for sound between the floors.
