The previous owners of our house added a garage next to the older garage with a low-sloping roof. Above it, a gabled roof is built that does not load the old construction and handles the snow load.

After a minor flood in the new section, I had to tear away the façade of the old section to replace wet insulation behind it. This gave me the idea to, instead of rebuilding, open up to the old garage.

Parts of the wall intended to be demolished also support the load from the new garage's ceiling. The entire attic area above both garages is used as storage today, and even though there aren't any tanks stored up there, I don't want to risk the roof collapsing because I messed up with the load redistribution. I have been able to read in the blueprints that the old roof is rated for 1.5 kN/m2.

The simplest solution for me would be if it worked to offload with this beam:
https://www.byggmax.se/limträ-90x315-p08890316

This is because I live close to Byggmax, the item is in stock locally, and I could cut it in half and transport it on my own trailer.

To avoid sacrificing ceiling height in the garage, brace above 3 rafters on the old garage.

Amateur thinking: Referring to the attached image and blueprint and counting rafters from the bottom:

1 beam 90x315 between rafter 2 and 4 supporting rafter 3
1 beam 90x315 between rafter 4 and 6 supporting rafter 5
1 column (90x90?) under rafter 4. Reinforce column under 2 and 6?

Alternative 2 order a glulam beam (115x405?) 6m, cut to about 5m, and span over rafters 2 and 6. But that feels like overkill. And a hell of a job to haul a 5-meter 115x405 to the attic which doesn't feel worth it for the benefit of avoiding a column in the middle.

Is there any engineer or excessively nerdy person who can trash or praise my calculations which are completely pulled out of a hat?
