Hello! I'm in full swing with the carport construction this summer. But I was a bit unsure about the reinforcement in the plinths.

I'm digging about 1.6 meters deep holes to lay 20-30 cm of crushed stone, compacting it and then pouring coarse concrete about 10-15 cm as a foot foundation before placing the casting mold.

The casting mold is 20 cm in diameter and 1.2 meters deep.

The plan is to use 3 reinforcement bars as a triangle, which will probably be welded a bit to keep the shape when placing them down and then bending the lower part into an L-shape on each bar, which will then be cast in the concrete foot.

So my questions are these:

1. What dimension of reinforcement should be used?

2. Is it sufficient with 3 reinforcement bars welded as a triangle a few centimeters apart to keep the shape?

3. Should the post shoe be physically attached to the reinforcement bars, or is it enough that they are cast together with a few centimeters in between? So, should I place the post shoe in the middle of the reinforcement triangle?

4. How long should one wait after casting the foot before placing the casting mold and pouring the remaining plinth?

5. What is the easiest way to ensure the reinforcement does not go too deep so it is positioned in the middle of the concrete in the foot?

Thanks in advance! Best regards, Henke

Managed to get answers to questions 1, 2, and 5.
Can any kind soul answer the others?

4 Set the mold in the wet concrete, i.e., do not wait at all.

but I should probably wait with the plinth itself maybe 1 day before it's cast? so the footing has a chance to cure a bit.
