Hi

A bit tricky this one - I don't think it's possible, but it's worth a shot...

Currently, we have a terribly pine staircase in an open staircase area. Standard 270 floor-to-floor and the staircase is L-shaped, left-turned with the turn at the bottom.

So far so good, was thinking of sanding it down, adding new oak steps, etc...

BUT then I found a suitable thing on Blocket :-) Nice solid oak staircase with just a few "minor scratches" that need fixing...

At the "bottom edge and angle" of the "L," everything fits brilliantly, but it is designed for 270 floor-to-floor, about 30cm too long :-( that is the length of the "leg" in the "L" between our wall which the short side is against and the opening to the second floor is 265cm measured along the floor and not 295 as it would need to be :-S

Darn it, I thought it would be perfect to buy one like that and slap it in instead of the miserable thing that's there today...

Is there any solution to this that is practically feasible?

We can't...

*Raise the entire staircase with an extra step at the bottom and cut one step at the top – then the bottom step will stick out into the front door opening and the stringer on the short side will go over a window :-S

*Carve out 1 meter wide and 30 cm deep on the 2nd floor – then the staircase will enter a doorway on the right side :-S

IS there any other solution?

Grateful for any answers!!!

Best regards,
Anna
