I currently have a rather shabby brick chimney that I plan to renovate above the ridge with leca instead and plaster on the outside. I'm thinking of using 9x19x59 blocks but wonder if that is too weak? It will be just over 4 blocks high / 80-90cm.

Is rebars to be used for this even if there are no slots for reinforcement in the blocks?

What type of mortar is suitable for masonry/plaster for a chimney? I will have an insert pipe and insulation around this, so the heat into the blocks will probably not be very high.

The measurements in the picture are not exact...

I suggest you check with the chimney sweep so he doesn't get a heart attack during the next cleaning.
