Hello!

We are going to work on our facade. It's an old house with old plaster that is coming off in places. The builder we hired has given us two options, with mesh or without mesh. With mesh, the price increased by 90,000. He said it's the material cost that makes it so much more expensive. Does that sound reasonable? And isn't there a middle ground? That one could mesh or reinforce weak spots. Under the plaster, there is brick. Grateful for a response.

Best regards,
Patrik

When was the house built? Are there solid brick walls or just facing brick?

Thank you for the reply. The house was built in 1934 and it is facing brick, I believe.

If the house was built in 1934 in Skåne, it should have solid brick walls. Measure the wall thickness at a window. Solid brick walls (I use the term a bit loosely, they can be thicker than solid brick and may have cavity walls with an air gap) are always made with hard brick. Such brick walls can withstand a relatively cement-rich plaster, which hardly needs reinforcement. Plastering work is tricky and requires real expertise. I would check with another company as well.

Thank you so much for the answer! It's nice when there is someone who knows. I will check with some other companies as well.

What kind of plaster does the house have at the moment? Spritputsad kalk? Do you have any pictures of its condition?

Got our 1920s house in Skåne plastered at the end of last summer, so I might be able to offer some tips in the best case.

Hi!
I actually don't know what type of plaster it is. It's bubbly but not as porous as lime. I'll go out and take a photo tomorrow when it's light. Thanks for all the help.

Hi Patrik.

Could you possibly share how you solved it in the end? I have a house with similar conditions. :)

Hello!
We hired a company that did netting and plastering. I think it cost about 100,000 SEK.

Best regards,
Patrik
