Working on preparing for insulation of an unfinished attic in a 1.5 story house. The rafters are currently 170mm and I would like to have 500mm of insulation in the ceiling. Most rafters are at cc 1200, but a few have cc 600.

My thought is if you could extend with, for example, a 195 beam that goes across the existing tie beam 4-5 pieces and then place a 170 beam in the same direction as the tie beam. To add beams where it is cc 1200, meaning the top layer all beams end up at cc 600. To get a less shaky floor in the attic space. It's only the attic space, which is basically not meant to be used. Maybe tongue and groove at cc 1200 is completely sufficient, meaning what I’m considering is overkill?

Blow in loose-fill insulation and you won't need to build up all the roof trusses!

Yes, that will be done, but I want at least a walkway, but probably plank flooring on large parts of the area so that it's possible to walk (read crawl) there.

If you use tongue and groove wood with a thickness of around 20 mm or higher, they can span a width of 1200 mm.
