Ordered a copy today before I read your post, I hope it will come in handy, e.g., for the deck construction. I think it seems promising, well what can I say when I've just ordered it :-)

Does it work for you?
When I download it, acrobat notifies that the file is damaged and cannot be repaired.
But maybe I have an older version of acrobat.

It worked perfectly to download it.

works fine here too

Then it is probably because I have an old version of Acrobat!

I have version 5.0, but it's Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader, which is why I use this old one. I need to check if I can have both installed, in parallel.

There are no problems having, for example, Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and Acrobat 8 Professional installed at the same time.
By right-clicking, you can choose to open in the reader or in Professional.

Just make sure to uncheck "Free Google Toolbar (optional)" when you install the reader.
It's a ***** spyware!

Hmm... Didn't think it could be downloaded, perfect. Thanks for the tip Pims!

if both are of reasonably the same version it works but v5 plus v8 on reader might be exciting but there are alternatives like foxit reader to resort to if necessary

I run Acrobat 7 in parallel with Reader 8.1 something and have the same issue. Right-click and save works just fine but never by just clicking the link... Strange but that's how it can be sometimes. Try it if you haven't already... //Yamma

To go off track a bit, adobe has some bugs in its installation tools that cause reader and large acrobat to overwrite files for each other, and if they are different versions, strange effects can occur.

The file is in PDF 1.6 and therefore requires Acrobat 8 or later. For Windows users, the order in which the different Acrobat tools are installed matters. For Mac users, the correct version is built into the system.

In my case, it hasn't been a version conflict causing the problem. I have simply only had acrobat5 (not reader) installed. Now I've just installed reader6, and apart from a warning box that everything might not display correctly, the quick guide works.

I suppose I will try installing ver 8 or maybe v7 later. But acroreader6 was available to me.

Does anyone know if it's possible to download acroreader 8 as a full installation file? That is, an installation package that can, for example, be put on a USB stick or burned to a disc to then install on a computer without a network?

yes it works. We have it like that at work
