Hello.
First question on this eminent forum then.
I have a room in the basement that's empty after the oil tank was removed and I've taken it over as a hobby room.
Unfortunately, I'm not at home in Åland now, but I can describe it as follows.
It used to be a similar "semi-basement garage," i.e. a slope down below ground and a "larger" model door into the basement.

In later years, however, that entrance was filled in and a wall of leca replaced the door.
Now my question is this, the wall looks like it's made of 19-hole bricks laid on edge.
(but leca block then).

The question is, can it be plastered over the "holes" or do they have some ventilating function? It was about 15 years ago when this wall was made.
The reason I'm also asking is that I'm considering building up another layer, to make the wall completely flat.
As it is now, there is an extra "plinth" about 70 cm up from the floor.
I'll be home in a week from next Tuesday, so if pictures are needed, I'll upload then :) I'll try to attach a quick sketch in Paint tomorrow.

Thanks in advance
/Kim

EDIT: couldn't get the upload to work via photobucket,
so I'm posting the links here below

Just thought of something that made me feel a bit silly :blushing:
Could it be as simple as having concrete blocks laid on their "edge"
and the holes are for potential reinforcing bars?
