Hello

How sensitive is a 22mm chipboard to unevenness in the surface you screw it into? I am planning to lay chipboard on the old floor joists, and there might be a few millimeters difference between some of the joists. Can the chipboard handle these level differences, or will it not be good? I am planning to lay laminate flooring on the chipboard afterwards.

The first time I laid down chipboard flooring, I overestimated the board's ability to level out differences in height between and along the beams, resulting in a kitchen floor with a small dip in front of the oven. As you screw the board down, it is forced against the subfloor, and if the subfloor isn't even, then the result won't be either...

If it's a matter of millimeters, it's not a bad idea to have strips of masonite that you can adjust with.

If it's just a single point, karroseribrickor aren't a bad idea either. However, it's a bit tricky to hit the right spot with the screw.

Pallningsbrickor are available for purchase at the lumber yard. 2, 5, and 10mm thick.
