Now I have plastered the foundation walls with C-bruk from byggmax. The result has been anything but even, even if I learned a bit, I think it varies a lot from time to time.
Yesterday, for example, I plastered the last 4x2m section. Mixed about 10 bags, identically mixed and with the same weather conditions. However, I found that some batches "dried up" faster than others. It was almost impossible to get the same surface finish because the plaster was so changeable over time... and we're not talking so much time. The whole job took about 3 hours from start to cleanup.
Now I’m done, but is there a difference in quality between different types? Is there anything more suitable for beginners, I wonder?
One thing I experienced (unclear if it's true) is that if you smooth with steel so it becomes a completely glossy surface, it's hopeless to finish afterwards as it hardens much faster than if the surface is a little rough?? I don't see the logic in that, but that's how it seems to be anyway.
I can also share the invaluable tip of mixing for 10 minutes, then resting a bit and mixing again for a minute => considerably "stickier" plaster than if you just mix once... why isn't that on the bag!
