I have an apartment with a large living room. I'm thinking of putting up a partition wall to create 2 spaces.
The living room floor has an oak parquet flooring that covers the entire area.

What is the practice when constructing a wall on existing parquet flooring?
Should I cut up the parquet and attach the stud directly to the concrete floor? If I screw through the parquet it can't move as it's supposed to, right?

Or should I skip fastening it to the floor and attach it to the wall and ceiling instead?

  • Empty living room with oak parquet flooring and a blank cream wall, electrical outlet visible on the wall, potential space for a partition wall installation.

How "loaded" will the wall become?

It's possible to squeeze the new wall between the floor and ceiling, it's often done like that in the apartment, because then you avoid drilling into the floor/ceiling.

You can clamp the new wall between the floor and ceiling; it's often done that way in the apartment, so you avoid drilling into the floor/ceiling.
I was planning to wall-mount a TV. I can probably drill into the ceiling without risk.

Just thinking so there's no trouble with the floor.
