Hi. I'm planning to put paneling on my brick house.
How should I go about it, is there anything special I need to consider, like an air gap or something like that?
How do you handle the areas around the windows?
Best regards

if you want panel, it's probably better to remove the bricks first.
Okay, why?😐

you don't have to expand outwards so terribly much, and you can arrange insulation better without intermediate constructions that become odd. Then you can insulate a bit extra and still have windows and such in the old places.
Or were you thinking of paneling directly on the brick?

Well, you are entitled to that opinion, but TS hasn't written much information and it's a free forum where everyone can take part in the information deemed applicable.harry73 said:
I agree with Stefan here. If you want to change the facade material to panel, the brick should be removed first.
But I also have to ask why you want to switch to panel?
Brick is maintenance-free and your facade will look as nice as today even 100 years from now without you needing to lift a finger. Panel, however, must be maintained every 10-15 years to avoid looking bad and eventually becoming damaged.

If you remove the brick, you must build on the wall at least as much as the brick's thickness + the air gap, otherwise, it will look odd at the plinth. The brick lines up more or less with the plinth, right?
