A few years ago, we renovated the upper floor and also extended it a bit. We used particleboard for the interior walls, and especially when it gets a bit warmer outside, there's a pungent smell that comes and goes. I suspect the boards are releasing formaldehyde. Can the stench be remedied, or is it just a matter of starting to tear them down?
Could there be other reasons for the odor?
