Project: new floor and room where there was previously air
First and foremost, I want to inform you that I have never undertaken something completely new before, only maintenance. Also, I'm a bit unsure if I've written this in the right place, but since it concerns technical procedures, it should be appropriate here.
House built in 1982, one and a half stories on a ground slab in a field. Main entrance roughly in the middle of the long side facing east into a hall that is open to the ceiling up into the second floor through the floor joists. The hall is approximately 3x3 m. Half covered by the ceiling. No dormer inside.
The idea is to build over the hall, i.e., a new roof/floor to create a new room on the upper floor, only leaving space for stairs which are also located in the hall. Possibly a new dormer with a window will be added when the room is nearly finished. A slanted roof makes it almost necessary.
Since I am in the planning stage, I will return with detailed information after getting some feedback.
My first question is, when a wall needs to be removed on the upper floor and one built to separate the new room, where do I actually start? Lay the floor with chipboard or move walls? A complicating factor is that the electrical panel is located right under a wall that needs to be moved, and I have reason to believe that a lot of electrical wiring runs through that wall straight up to the second floor or up to the crawl space.
I will return with more information.

Hello.
Interesting project. You're most likely right about the electricity. Make sure to get hold of an electrician in good time.
I can tell you that I have acquaintances who did exactly the opposite in a house from the late '70s. They cut a hole above the entrance about 3x3 meters and built a fence around it. I haven't seen it finished, but when I was last there, a lot of cables and pipes were hanging freely.
Good luck, feel free to write here how it went.

Okay, a bit more structured:
Electrician involved from the start, even before I begin detailed planning.
Need to find something to hang clothes on (from the wardrobe that will be moved/removed) and a suitable place for that. Then the lining must be removed from surrounding floor connections to see how the floor structure is built and know what needs to be purchased. Then demolish the wall in cooperation with the electrician and see how much wiring is going in which direction, hoping to only have wires continuing up to the ceiling. I believe we will demolish the old fuse box at the same time and install a modern one instead.
Then I need to check where the ceiling heating panels (!? yes, a house like that) are before I begin screwing in new studs for the new wall. That will require crawling in the crawl space above.
