Hello!

I have an older house in the countryside that previously didn't have drainage since it was built. It has now been drained for about 1 year. The walls on one side of the house are not completely dry but show a significant improvement.

I'm now refreshing a few walls in the hall and kitchen and removed all the old loose plaster that was loose. I plan to apply a new layer but wonder which one I should go for. I first thought of Gypsum plaster as it is easy to work with/fill but am unsure if it's the optimal choice. What would you go for? Gypsum plaster? Lime plaster? Other?

And my second question. I plan to paint after filling in the first picture. Is it better to use silicone paint to let it breathe?

Thanks to all you kind souls

Kalle

  • Damaged plaster on an interior wall, showing a patch of exposed brick near the floor. The wall has uneven texture and discoloration.
  • A damaged wall corner in a house with missing plaster, showing exposed brown and beige layers, near a black tiled floor.
N
3 mm c mortar. Not gypsum mortar as it cannot handle moisture in any form.
The upper image maybe silicate, as it looks unpainted. The lower one, paint with whatever you want, you still have to paint the entire wall, and you cannot paint silicate on plastic paint or whatever it is.
